Reversible pouches
We get lots of requests for 2 layer reversible pouches…. We are determined not to add them to our instock store until we can produce them efficiently, but it is hard to resist making a few here and there. I just picked up some stretch shirting material to make 2 different reversible slings. I have enough fabric to have about 30 of each made. The sling pictured here is made of a 97% cotton 3% Lycra shadow striped poplin. The stripes are actually woven into the fabric, not printed, and it has a very nice silky soft feel to it.
The other fabrics that I have for reversible pouches is stretch cotton striped sear-sucker in lilac and daisy.
Reversible pouch baby slings are great for doing advanced wearing techniques such as this “inside out twist”, which I will be posting step by step instructions for soon. I love this technique, it is so comfortable for a heavy baby in the hip carry, but until now we haven’t had reversible slings. Since the back side of the sling shows when turned inside out, this technique isn’t as attractive with a single layer print sling. The inside out twist looks fine with a solid color, single layer sling, but it would be hard to demonstrate this technique in photos since both sides of a solid colored sling look the same.

The regular shoulder flip looks great with a reversible sling as well. With our single layer slings, the back side of the fabric shows when the shoulder is flipped. This has never bothered me, but some people find it visually unappealing.

Two layer slings are more supportive for wearing heavy toddlers and preschoolers. Katie is two and a half years old and close to 35 lbs, so she is a perfect tester for our new slings!
I have just discovered that I have been spelling “reversable” wrong for my whole life
Thank goodness for spellcheck.
